Mike Tannenbaum addresses NFL teams’ stance on sexuality and looks back at decisions with Jets

Former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum joined the show to talk about the interview process before the NFL Draft.

Tannenbaum said that the great thing about pro football is that it’s a microcosm of society. There’s a lot of different people in the locker room, including possibly gay players. But they have to get along with each other.

Dan asked Tannenbaum today’s poll – who would you want, Tyrann Mathieu or Manti Te’o?

Tannenbaum said Honey Badger because defending the pass is the key to the NFL these days.

“This kid has true man to man ability,” Tannenbaum said. “He can play in the slot. We tried five years trying to defend Wes Welker and we just couldn’t do it.”

Tannenbaum said glowing things about Tim Tebow’s personality. Said his team-first attitude was invigorating, even though it didn’t work out. He did say accuracy is a problem for Tebow.

Tannenbaum said that he thinks Mark Sanchez can improve …  “there’s a lot of football left in Mark and football is important to him.”
