Terry Francona on why he trusted Red Sox despite hi-jinx

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona joined the show to talk about the Indians and looking back at his Red Sox days.

Francona talked about why he can be honest with his players. “I’m just so comfortable in [the clubhouse], I tell them how I feel,” Francona said. “When you develop relationships, you can tell guys they don’t necessarily want to hear.”

Francona said back in the day with Boston, he had no problem with guys doing things like taking shots in the clubhouse. “I loved those guys so much,” Francona said. “I trusted them so much. I knew as wacky as they were, when they got on the field, they knew how to get it done.”

Francona said he’s not sure where he is with this Indians group. Dan asked if they’re there now or a year away. Francona said he doesn’t know.
