Bruce Bochy says he hasn’t heard anything about Lincecum trade; comments on managing All-Star Game

San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy joined the show to talk about the All-Star Game and more.

Dan asked Bochy about the possibility Tim Lincecum will be dealt. “I haven’t heard anything about trades,” Bochy said. “He’s so well loved in the Bay Area and all of us.n …. We’re thin in our rotation. We can’t afford to lose him. … We still believe we’re in this.”

Bochy had a lot of praise for Mariano Rivera. “He’s such a humble man,” Bochy said. “Just a great person.”

Bochy tried to explain why it’s so hard to hit Rivera. “It’s got such a late break to it,” Bochy said. “It looks like a fastball and it has that late break at the end.”

Dan asked Bochy who had the best pitches that he’s ever seen. He immediately talked about Nolan Ryan’s fastball, and Trevor Hoffman and J.R. Richard for his slider. “You ask any hitter in the National League,” Bochy said of Richard. “They didn’t want anything to do with this guy.”

Bochy also explained his decision on not adding Yasiel Puig to the roster. He said that it came down to how long he played.
