Eli Manning talks about preseason, Peyton and DIRECTV commercial
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning joined the show to talk about the preseason and more. Here are some of the highlights from the interview:
— Dan asked if Eli if he cares about winning or losing in the preseason. ” You don’t want to go out there and have the best game of your life in preseason,” Manning said. “You want to see where you want to make improvements. You can show some struggles and say we gottta work on this. We gotta get better at these things.”
— Dan asked if defenders really hit in the preseason. “They’ll still hit you,” Manning said. ” The first preseason game I did not get hit. In Game 2 I finally got hit a couple times. I kind of like it. It helps me get into my rhythm. All OTAs and minicamp and training came you never get hit. Finally I get sacked and it doesn’t hurt that bad. It’s kind of good to get back into the mix.”
— Eli talked about how he handles the pressure of being in New York: “I try to not to get real discouraged or upset with what the media is saying. I get upset with myself. I don’t get down. I don’t make excuses. I say I gotta get better. I gotta study. I try not to show it or let the other team or the media or my teammates see it.”
— Eli said the New York media might bother Peyton: “He’d be reading the papers. He would have a lot of enemies. Peyton is not as forging as I am sometimes. If people wrote bad things about him after a game he may not talk to them again.”
— Eli said he and Peyton are one-hit wonders as rappers. “I don’t think we can do any better,” Eli said. “If we came out with another song, and it’s not as good. You gotta go out on a high note. It’s like playing your first season and winning the Super bowl and saying I’ve had enough.”
