Jim Miller explains why ESPN backed off from NFL concussion documentary

Author Jim Miller (@ESPNBook on Twitter) joined the show to talk about his story in the New York Times on ESPN backing out of a project with PBS on NFL head injuries .

Miller explained that the NFL didn’t tell ESPN to back out of the project. But the NFL did let ESPN know how unhappy they were.

Miller explained that PBS Frontline showed a clip of the documentary and ESPN and NFL was blindsided. Miller said that trailer had a tone that really upset the NFL.

“The NFL is the lifeblood of Bristol, CT,” Miller said. He said that their model is about rates and NFL gets their rates up.
