Jim Tressel says isn’t pursuing coaching right now, but he won’t rule it out
Former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel joined the show to talk about taking a job as a professor at Akron.
Dan asked if he will want to coach football again. “I can’t tell you that I wake up in the morning thinking that I do,” Tressel said. “I’ve told people all along I can’t say that I won’t. I’m not hiring an agent and putting a resume together. … I would say probably not.”
Dan asked if he’s a fan of this current Ohio State team. “Absolutely,” Tressel said. “I was in all of those living rooms. Those are like my own children.
He talked a lot about quarterback Braxton Miller.
“It would be fun to coach No. 5,” Tressel said. “Old Braxton is pretty good. We started recruiting him in ninth grade. …. I teased him. If the stars line up from a timing standpoint, you could take over for Terrelle Pryor. “
Tressel said he’s not recharging his battery so he can be another coach. He said he doesn’t think like that. Tressel said he always taught a class at Youngstown State and his father was a teacher-coach.
