Urban Meyer on having two good QBs, Johnny Manziel and playing cupcakes
Ohio State coach Urban Meyer joined the show to talk about his season and much more.
Meyer said that he has considered playing Braxton Miller and Kenny Guyton in the same game just like he did with Tim Tebow and Chris Leak at Florida. Meyer said he thought about it last week and there’s a chance he could do it this week.
Dan asked Meyer if he would like to have Johnny Manziel. I love Johnny Manziel,” Meyer said. “I love the fact that he loves the game of football.”
Meyer talked about lower-division schools playing major programs. He said the payday may not look good, but that payday is very important to these programs.
Dan asked Meyer his reaction to Lane Kiffin being fired. He said the head coach usually is doing fine financially, so he’s not worried about him. “I immediately go to the assistant coaches and their families because I’ve been there,” Meyer said.
Meyer commented on the NCAA. He said he’s pro-NCAA and thinks they need to be tough. He also thinks a $2,000 stipend is a good idea, although he’s not sure how to work it out legally without paying every athlete in the school.
