Bobby Valentine says 2012 Red Sox not talented enough to win World Series

Former Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine joined the show to talk about them winning the title the year after he left.

Dan asked Valentine what’s different. “About 13 guys, a lot of beards, a quality bullpen and some clutch hitting,” Valentine said.

Dan asked Valentine to look back at what happened last year. “Winning sometimes brings out the best,” Valentine said. “Losing brings out the worst.”

Valentine did make it clear he didn’t have the talent to do this last season: “There’s no way I could have done this with last year’s team because we weren’t very good.”

Valentine weighed in on David Ortiz’s performance. He said that he wouldn’t have walked him every time and he knows pitchers feel they can get anyone out. Valentine also argued he should reach the Hall of Fame because he’s the best player ever at his position, DH, which has been around for 40 years.

Dan asked if he’s done managing. “I don’t know,” Valentine said. “Do you have a job for me?”
