Miami Herald’s Cote explains why he wasn’t surprised by Incognito/Martin story

Miami Herald columnist Greg Cote joined the show to talk about the issues in the Dolphins locker room.

Cote said that Incognito was a well-liked figure in that locker room. Here’s how he described him: “Popular. Respected. He was having a good season. {he was] probably their second best linemen. … He was one of the most popular guys in the locker room. And the media loved him.”

Dan asked Cote if he was surprised by this story. Cote said no: “Incognito is a very boisterous, profane, fun-loving type guy. … I can see Jonathan Martin being picked on quite frankly. He’s the Stanford guy having a reputation of being soft physically.”

Cote said there are two options in this for Joe Philbin — either he didn’t know, which makes him look bad, or he did know, which makes him look bad. Cote said the Dolphins’ mixed results on the field and this story could combine to get Philbin fired.
