New Washington coach Chris Petersen clears up rumors about other jobs
New Washington coach Chris Petersen joined the show to talk about why he left Boise State and much more.
Petersen said that he didn’t come as close to taking bigger jobs earlier in his career. “There might have been some opportunities,” Petersen said. “The timing wasn’t right. The fit wasn’t right.”
Dan asked Petersen if USC made an offer. “Nope, they did not,” Petersen said. But he did say they talked. “We had an extensive conversation.” Petersen also told Dan that Texas did not reach out to him.
Petersen said that people don’t understand that it’s not the biggest name that makes the best hire: “Most places don’t do great homework on either side of the fence. And that’s why you don’t get the right fit and it doesn’t work out for everybody.”
Petersen said that he won’t dye the field purple in Seattle like the blue in Boise. He said he might dye Lake Washington purple.
