Roy Hibbert on homecourt advantage
Pacers center Roy Hibbert joined the show to talk about the upcoming All-Star Game and more. Here are some of his takes:
— Hibbert doesn’t have a big problem with not having a center in the All-Star starting lineup. He says he’s fine with getting good numbers on a winning team.
— On playing for homecourt advantage in the playoffs: “It’s a mental tool that we use to get us up for every game. You can fall behind in the dog days of winter. Two to three weeks before All-=Star break teams relax and don’t give it there all and they may drop a couple of games.”
— On why he uses social media: “I was an only child. I never interacted with a lot of people outside of basketball and school. Social media gives me a way to connect with other people. …. Sometimes people get under your skin. I try to be myself and respond in a way that will not get me fined by the NBA.
— On the downside of being over seven-feet tall: “It’s very aggravating when I step into an elevator with someone and they try to touch the top of my head. Learn about personal space.”
