Jerry West on Phil Jackson’s legacy, why Draft isn’t effective

Hall of Famer Jerry West joined the show to talk the latest news on the Lakers, Phil Jackson and the state of the NBA.

West said Lakers fans should complain. “The fans of Los Angeles have been unbelievably blessed,” West said. He says they just don’t have the talent right now.

West also commented on Jackson’s success: “If he hadn’t had the talent he had he wouldn’t have won that many championships here in Los Angeles,” West said. “But to say another coach would have done it would not have been true. … You can’t look at his resume and be critical of him.”

West argued that the Draft isn’t what it used to be. Players are not NBA-ready and take a long time to develop after being drafted.
