Julius Randle explains why he chose to go to NBA
Former Kentucky forward Julius Randle joined the show to talk about why he left school to go to the NBA. Here are some of his takes:
— Randle recounted his conversation with John Calipari on his decision to go pro: “He just told me that I was ready. He said I could come back if I wanted to. He didn’t really see a reason for me to. Just because of how defenses played me, he thinks the next level will be a better style of play for me. “
— Randle said it wasn’t just the one-and-done trend at Kentucky that attracted him. It was knowing Calipari had his back and was looking out for his best interest.
— Randle explained why he waited to make his announcement. “I was thinking about coming back. Once I got the emotions out of the way, I realized there’s no better opportunity than now.”
— Randle said growing up Kobe Bryant was his favorite player and he’s award they could probably use a big forward in the Draft.
— Randle said he didn’t go to bed hungry. “I don’t go to bed hungry,” Randle said. “My mom does a good job of sending me food.” He also said he could buy cheap food nearby.
