Mark Jackson on Bird v. LeBron, Bosh and HOF, coaching again
Former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson joined the show to talk about the NBA playoffs and the coaching carousel.
Jackson didn’t think that Lance Stephenson was very wise to trash-talk LeBron. Jackson said it doesn’t work on LeBron right now. Jackson said the Pacers aren’t going to win individual battles against the Heat. They have to win as a team.
Jackson said the Heat have four Hall of Famers. He included Chris Bosh along with LeBron, Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen. Jackson thinks LeBron is the best small forward of all time — surpassing Larry Bird who Jackson has a ton of respect for. “[LeBron’s] going to be in the discussion with anyone who ever played,” Jackson said.
Jackson talked about Serge Ibaka returning. “It’s a great story,” Jackson said, noting it made the Western Conference finals much more exciting.
Jackson said that he hasn’t been contacted about coaching anywhere yet. “I’m certainly locked and loaded and prepared,” Jackson said.
Dan asked Jackson his opinion on Steve Kerr taking the Warriors job. “More power to him,” Jackson said. He said that he’s a fan of Kerr and the Warriors are poised to be a very good team.
