Marv Albert on retirement, Popovich, LeBron vs. Jordan

TNT broadcaster Marv Albert joined the show to talk about the playoffs and much more.

Dan asked Albert when it’s time for a broadcaster to retire. “When you lose the passion for the game,”Albert said. “It’s kind of an unusual situation these days. More so than in the past, there are many play-by-play guys that are still around.  … It’s also passion for doing the preparation. You don’t just show up. … even in a playoff series like this, it never stops. Once you lose the desire to do that, it’s time to say, “it’s been great, that’s enough.”

Albert also weighed in on Gregg Popovich’s in-game interviews: “At times he should give a little more information. Some coaches actually give you information. Some give you cliché type answers.  … It’s kind of funny. At times, maybe he could pull it back and provide more information.”
