Costas on California Chrome’s chances
NBC’s Bob Costas joined the show to preview the Belmont Stakes and more.
Costas said the triple crown threat is very good for horse racing and they need that kind of thing to appeal to casual fans.
Costas said that he isn’t a horse racing expert necessarily, but heard from D. Wayne Lukas the key to winning the triple crown is having a great horse in a year where there are no other great horses. That being said, Costas thinks the distance could be a problem because California Chrome is the only horse to run all three races.
Costas also told an incredible story about O.J. Simpson calling him the night of the White Bronco chase. Simpson called his home phone from the road.
