Kenny Smith: Officials’ job is to tell if guy is faking
TNT’s Kenny Smith joined the show to break down the NBA Finals and more.
Smith weighed in on fining players for flopping. “I thought it was the referees’ job to figure out whether it should be called. … That’s your job. When a guy fakes, it’s your job to figure it out.”
Dan asked Smith the biggest flopper he played against. Smith said Derek Fisher was a flopper (and a great defensive player at the same time).
Smith also weighed in on players going right from the court to the sideline as coaches. Smith said it’s not that hard …. it takes about three weeks to learn what you need to learn.
Smith had interesting comments on Michael Jordan’s legacy: “Michael Jordan becomes the great fish tale. You’re never going to chase it and win. … You’ll never beat that story.”
Smith also talked about Rashad McCants. He said his first thought was that McCants wasn’t nearly the player he was and he didn’t get any grades.
