Joel Embiid thought he might fall to second round
Former Kansas center Joel Embiid joined the show to talk about being drafted No. 3 overall by the 76ers. Here are some of the big man’s thoughts on the Draft:
— On how he injured his foot: “I was working out before the draft. At the end, I just felt a little pain. I didn’t know what was going on. I called my agent and the next day we went to the hospital and did MRI’s and X-Rays”
— On where he thought he would be picked: “I thought with the latest injury I was going to drop a lot. Maybe 15. Maybe second round. … You know how people talk on social media. I bought into that. I was also listening to my agents that told me good things. I was kind of surprised [I went No. 3.]
— On whether he’d rather be Cristiano Ronaldo or LeBron James: “I would say Ronaldo. Soccer players are more famous than basketball players. They get more money. They have everything. But you have to be a man to play basketball and I don’t think those soccer guys can.”
— On soccer flopping: “They flop so much. I’ve been watching the World Cup. They need to fine them [every time they flop.]
