Jaws: Manziel showed energy in first appearence

ESPN NFL analyst Ron Jaworski joined the show to share his preseason observations.

Jaworski explained why he was a bit down on Johnny Manziel coming out of college. “When I studied him,” Jaws said, “I just didn’t see the attributes that would lead to sustained success in the NFL.”

But Jaworski said he saw a lot of energy from Manziel in his first game and thought his performance was encouraging.

Jaws, however, said durability is a concern: “You put a quarterback in harm’s way, they want to knock you into the cheap seats.”

Jaworski also said he’s in favor of sitting young quarterbacks. “I always thought the best way to develop a quarterback is to sit behind a wily veteran,” Jaws said.

Dan asked how guys like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning can play five more years. Jaworski said they would need “luck.” Jaws said it can end suddenly: “You start going downhill and it usually happens quickly. I think that’s what will happen.”

Dan asked about his former business partner Jon Bon Jovi’s attempt to buy the Bills. “I’m pulling for Jon Bon Jovi,” Jaworski said. “He will be a great owner. He wants to win. “
