Cal Ripken on Kershaw’s struggles, tipping pitches
TBS analyst Cal Ripken Jr. joined the show to talk about the MLB playoffs and more.
Ripken stood up for Clayton Kershaw to a degree — noting that he came close to winning those games in the postseason. Ripken said he actually worries about guys who are too hot for too long because of the law of averages.
Ripken told a great story about tipping pitches. He explained that some pitchers’ gloves flare out a bit when they’re gripping the breaking ball. He also said some pitchers bring the glove up to their nose. He said Robbie Alomar was the best he ever saw at reading pitchers.
