Tom Waddle on why Bears need to shake things up
ESPN Radio broadcaster Tom Waddle joined the show to talk about the Bears’ recent struggles.
Dan asked if the blowout loss to the Packers on Sunday night was a fireable offense for coach Marc Trestman. “I think so,” Waddle said. “I think the most indicting thing about this performance was that that’s what you do coming after a bye. … No focus, no discipline, no energy.”
Waddle said he was surprised no one was fired on Monday — especially with how poorly the defense has played. Waddle isn’t sure that Trestman is getting through to his guys and talked about how scared he was of Mike Ditka back in the day.
Waddle said he was optimistic that the Trestman-Jay Cutler marriage was going to be a big success, and it hasn’t happened.
Dan asked his favorite white guy receiver cliche. Waddle said he liked “he can catch it, but he can’t go anywhere afterward.” He also said someone called him “small, slow and friendly.”
