Bob Costas on Pharoah’s dominance, ESPN’s ‘exploitation play’
NBC’s Bob Costas joined the show to talk about American Pharoah winning the Triple Crown and more.
Costas said that you can’t argue with American Pharoah’s dominance and that it was a great atmosphere at Belmont.
Costas also weighed in on Caitlyn Jenner winning the Arthur Ashe Award from ESPN: “Bruce Jenner, who I did not know well. I always had a cordial relationship with. I wish Caitlyn Jenner wel …anyone seeking to find the identity they’re comfortable with and live the happiest possibly life without hurting anybody. … I wish Caitlyn all the happiness and peace of mind in the world. However, it strikes me that awarding the Arthur Ashe to Caitlyn Jenner is just a crass exploitation play.
Costas said it’s a “play to pump up” ratings, which is what happens in television shows.
