Urban Meyer discusses personal price of coaching football

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer stopped by the NYC ManCave to talk about his new book and the Buckeyes’ season.

Meyer talked frankly about his issues when he was coaching at Florida and he would miss so much of his children’s life. Meyer said all coaches would like to take a year off and then get back into it. You need to to get healthy and often to sort out your personal life.

Meyer talked about how he couldn’t enjoy success. He said right after Florida won a title once he started sending emails to recruits 15 minutes afterward instead of celebrating.

Meyer discussed why J.T. Barrett is starting now. He said that Barrett wasn’t practicing as well as he could in the summer and he earned the right to take that job.
