Tom Izzo thinks Spartans one of 15 teams capable of winning title
Michigan State coach Tom Izzo joined the show to talk about the Spartans’ chances in the Tournament.
— Izzo is optimistic about his team. “I think this team is one of 15 teams that has a legitimate chance,” Izzo said. “The way it is this year, someone without a legitimate chance could sneak in there. It’s been like that all season.”
– Dan asked Izzo if he recruited Ben Simmons. He said no, because he know Simmons had a good relationship with LSU. Izzo did say he went after LeBron. “After that summer, watching him in AAU, I realized he’s not going to college,” Izzo said. He said he recruited a lot of the players who were one-and-done and went to Duke, like Jabari Parker.
–Izzo talked about the connections between Denzel Valentine and Draymond Green: “They were both not highly recruited guys out of high school. … They’re similar type of kids in different positions. Both have incredibly high Basketball IQs and a will to win.”
