Charles Barkley on Warriors vs. great teams; NBA hanging out officials; Ali’s influence

— Barkley said the Warriors “would not put a lot of fear in our heart back in the day.” He said that even a team like the Bad Boy Pistons would probably beat them.

— Barkley said he was wrong about the Warriors, however. “I underestimated their bench and their defense,” Barkley said.

— Barkley thinks the NBA is making a mistake by issuing a report on the refs’ performance in the last two minutes:

“I think it’s one of the stupidest things the NBA has ever done with hanging the referees out to dry. Referees are going to miss some calls because of technology — slow mo and HD televisions they’re going to miss some calls. They’ve always missed calls. They are really out there doing a fantastic job. I don’t understand what the NBA is doing trying to hang these guys out to dry. They need to nix that immediately. If they want to be transparent they miss calls in the first quarter. But I don’t understand why they’re hanging these officials out to dry in the last two minutes. Like I said I’ve never gotten a call wrong in slow motion . You do know that right? If I could sit at home and look at it five times in slow motion I’m not going to miss a call either.”

— Barkley said Ali was one of the biggest influences on him and because of Ali he’s always dedicated to helping people.
