Patrick Reed on emotional showdown with Rory McIlroy at Ryder Cup

U.S. golfer Patrick Reed joined the show after helping America beat Europe for the first time since 2008. Here are some his comments …

— Reed said that playing the first match on Sunday was very important. “You need to go out and win that match. It gives all the momentum to that team.” Reed said that he asked to play that first match. He wanted to go against Rory McIlroy.

— Reed said it was a show between him and Rory, but they kept it positive. “We went out and had some fun,” Reed said. He said after the match they congratulated each other.

— Dan asked what it would be like if every tournament had the crowd going crazy like they did this weekend. “It would be amazing,” Reed said. “I would absolutely love it. … But you wouldn’t be able to play [that way] 35 weeks a year.”

— Reed told a funny story about over-celebrating after the President’s Cup. He said he didn’t drink on Sunday night because it was so rough.
