Bob Costas impressed with Vick, says Rays reach playoffs could be good for baseball
NBC and MLB Network broadcaster Bob Costas joined guest host Howard Eskin to talk about some of the big stories in the NFL and baseball.
Costas was in Atlanta to see Michael Vick against the Falcons on Sunday. Costas was impressed with Vick as a player.
“He’s a much better passer in the pocket,” Costas said. “He works harder. He puts in more time.”
Costas said that as far as personally, “so far, so good.” He said that you can’t put a bow around something like that though.
Costas has an interesting comment on the AL playoff race. He said in the short term MLB wants the Red Sox. But if the Rays make it, it shows a small-market team can thrive. That will inspire small-market clubs.
Costas agrees with Howard that the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw is the NL Cy Young.
Howard asked Costas his favorite baseball movie. Costas went with Bull Durham as No. 1.
