Lombardi comments on NFL labor issues, Vick
NFL Network analyst Michael Lombardi joined Howard Eskin to talk about the league’s labor issue and more.
Lombardi said you need a real deadline so people negotiate seriously. “If people aren’t fearful, you can’t reason with them,” Lombardi said.
Lombardi said the NFL and union having a mediator now is a good thing. “At least now we have some real dialogue on substantive issues,” Lombardi said.
Lombardi also had interesting comments on Michael Vick, who he spent time around during Super Bowl week.
“Michael Vick has matured,” Lombardi said. “Michael Vick understands what lies ahead of him.”
Lombardi said it was a good decision for Vick not to go on Oprah. “There’s no need to get out there. The season’s over. You need to keep on building good will moving forward,” Lombardi said.
Lombardi also commented on Cam Newton. He said the offense he ran at Auburn is very different than the NFL. Lombardi said that he would want to talk to Newton about what he could do in the pros. Lombardi also said that there has to be concerned you’ll get “Team Newton.”
