Dusty Baker talks about Albert Pujols, Phillies, Sammy Sosa

BakerCincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker joined the show to talk about the upcoming season and more.

Baker said the Reds aren’t worried about any extra pressure after reaching the playoffs. They’ve proven to themselves they can play and they’re ready to do it again.

Baker talked about the Albert Pujols contract and whether it will be a distraction. ” I don’t think anything can really distract Albert. It might distract the other guys, but I don’t see Tony La Russa letting that happen,” Baker said.

But Baker said that the Cards aren’t his only problem. The Brewers and Astros will be much better. And the Cubs have a lot of talent. “I think our division is going to be one of the best divisions in baseball,” Baker said.

Baker also commented on the Phillies as well. He said that he can’t remember a time when Philly was carried by pitching instead of hitting. But Baker is very impressed with the statement the Phils made by getting Cliff Lee back.

Baker also talked about when Sammy Sosa got caught with a corked bat. Rick Telander recently reported that Sosa really didn’t know the bat was corked. “Only Sammy knows if he knew the bat was corked or not,” Sosa said.
