Jim Mora on what NFL teams look for at Combine
NFL Network analyst Jim Mora joined the show to talk about the Scouting Combine and more.
Mora talked about the importance of different drills and exercises at the Combine. He said he’s very interested in players’ handshakes. Then things like the Wonderlic are only effective as flags you may need to look at an aspect of a player a little bit harder.
“I’d ask him very probing questions about his time at Florida, his issues with the law and his father,” Mora said.
But Mora said the story isn’t as clear-cut as it seems about his father. “I’ve never met the guy and I’ve heard he’s a pretty good guy,” Mora said.
Mora said that kids have incredible backgrounds, and you have to ask them with compassion and class. You can’t try to embarrass kids with questions.
Mora also said that teams don’t know who they’re going to pick right now. So all the mock drafts and expert analysis really aren’t accurate.
