Pittsburgh’s Jamie Dixon talks about rigors of Big East

Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon joined guest host Andrew Siciliano to talk about the Big East and how his team is looking heading forward.

Dixon said that the Big East is wide open. “You can pick anyone,” Dixon said. Dixon said he thinks that the conference has 11 Tournament-worthy teams. But he said he’s not sure 11 will get in. He said it’s hard to convince the selection committee. “It’s a hard sell,” Dixon said.

Dixon, however, said he’s happy about where his team is right now. “We shoot it a little better,” Dixon said. “Our defense is getting better.”

Dixon talked about the conference tournament, and acknowledged that a long run in the tourney can take a lot of energy, and provide more of a challenge for the NCAA Tournament.

And Dixon talked about DeJuan Blair’s success in the NBA. Dixon said the Spurs are the perfect team for Blair, because they play a similar style as the Panthers.
