Charles Barkley worried about Heat, has advice for Cam
TNT NBA analyst Charles Barkley joined the show to talk about the big stories in the NBA and more.
— Barkley watched the Knicks-Heat last night and has concerns about Miami. “I’m starting to wonder about the Heat,” Barkley said.
Barkley said they can’t get a stop when they need it and their offense isn’r running well.
Barkley weighed in on LeBron. “He’s the best player in the NBA,” Barkley said. “But I don’t think he’s a great three-point shooter.”
Barkley wanted to reiterate that LeBron is the best player in the NBA. But he did say Derrick Rose is the MVP.
Barkley thinks Boston and Chicago are the two best teams in the East.
— Barkley thinks that the Lakers are reaching the end of this dynasty. “Even if they win it, I think this is their last run at the title,” Barkley said.
— Barkley weighed in on last week’s trades. “The only team that really helped themselves a lot was Oklahoma City,” Barkley said.
Barkley has Dallas and the Lakers over the Spurs in the West. And he now thinks the Thunder could knock off San Antonio. He thinks the Spurs don’t have enough inside strength.
— Barkley talked about the NFL Scouting Combine. He thinks it’s way overrated because two guys he knows pretty well didn’t do well there — Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith.
Barkley said a lot of guys in the NBA have the skills, but they don’t know what they’re doing. They don’t know how to play.
Barkley said the one thing he’d be most concerned about is players’ families. He thinks a great kid can have issues because he has a “nutty” family around him.
— Barkley said that Cam Newton shouldn’t be worried about the negative press he got for saying he wanted to be an icon. “I told him don’t worry about everything they say,” Barkley said.
