Dave Stubbs breaks down violent NHL hit

Montreal Gazzette writer Dave Stubbs jointed the show to talk about Zdeno Chara’s hit on Max Pacioretty this week and its aftermath.

Stubbs said Montreal fans are irate and think that the league has to punish Chara. Others want the police heavily involved. Meanwhile, Boston fans say it was legal.  “People in Boston are saying it was a completely legitimate hit,” Stubbs said.

Stubbs said the Canadiens plan to bring up the issue with the NHL. He said the two players had a lot of history and there is a question of intent.

Stubbs did say in the bigger picture, there is a problem with players going for violent hits. Stubbs said the way the league is going, a player could be critically injured on the ice.
