Chris Mannix evaluates top draft prospects, Rose for MVP

SI.com’s Chris Mannix joined the show to talk about the NBA draft and the playoff picture.

Mannix said he’s hearing Fredette can make a rotation. “With the proper coaching, he’s not going to be a pure point guard, but he can be a guy who can handle the position for periods of time,” Mannix said.

Mannix said teams are excited about point guards in the draft. He thinks Duke point guard Kyrie Irving will go No. 1. And Mannix said teams like Kemba Walker.

Mannix also talked about Derrick Rose’s MVP candidacy. Mannix dismissed recent criticism of Rose and said he’s the reason the Bulls are currently the No. 1 seed in the East.

Mannix also commented the Lakers chasing the Spurs for the No. 1 seed in the West. L.A. is 3 1/2 games back and San Antonio is banged up. Mannix said it’d be huge for the Lakers to jump up there.
