Ron Artest talks about playoffs, Citizenship Award

Lakers forward Ron Artest joined the show to talk about the Lakers-Mavericks series and winning the Citizenship Award.

Artest said he always wanted to win the Citizenship Award and even asked the refs for help.

Dan asked Artest what he would have thought if we told him seven years ago that he was going to win the Citizenship Award. Artest said that his head was “cloudy” at that time.

Artest said he realized he wasn’t reaching his potential early in his career. He said he was “like a chicken with his head cut off” when he first got all that money and attention in the NBA.

Artest said that he still talks to the therapist he thanked after the Finals. Artest said that they talk about basketball a lot.

Artest had interesting comments on facing off with Dallas. Artest said he doesn’t understand how people can call the Mavericks soft.
