Rick Carlisle on Russell Westbrook, Dirk’s place in history, Bynum fine

Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle joined the show to talk about the playoffs and their win over the Lakers.

Carlisle talked about his potential opponents. He said that Russell Westbrook is impressive and has no problem with him shooting a lot. He thinks coach Scott Brooks is no dummy and knows what’s best for his team. “They’re encouraging him to play his game,” Carlisle said.

Carlisle commented on Andrew Bynum’s foul on J.J. Barea. He thought the five-game suspension was “significant,” and sounded satisfied. “I’m fine with it,” Carlisle said.

Carlisle also stuck up for claims Dirk Nowitzki is among the greatest players of all time. He said that he believes Dirk is among the top 10 of all time.

Carlisle had interesting comments on the man who drafted him, Red Auerbach. He said he wasn’t an intimidating presence at all. Auerbach was a great guy he said, with a good sense of humor.
