Shane Battier on why Grizzlies lost, and how to slow the Thunder

Memphis Grizzlies forward Shane Battier joined guest host Chris Mannix to talk about their loss to the Thunder in Game 7 on Sunday.

“To win a Game 7 on the road, you have to have ice in your veins, and you have to have the perfect game,” Battier said.

Battier said the biggest piece of advice he’d give the Mavericks against the Grizzlies is get back in transition. He said you have a better chance to stop Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook in the half court.

Battier said Durant is one of the hardest matchups he’s ever had.  “He presents problems that no one else who I’ve played against presents,” Battier said.

Battier also said he really like what Durant stands for. “He respects the game,” Battier said. “It’s not about him. it’s about the game. I told him after the game I’m proud he’s one of the guys carrying the torch for the game.”

Still, Battier thinks the Mavericks’ experience will make the difference and give them the series in five or six games.
