Drew Brees says Reggie Bush wants to stay in New Orleans
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees joined the show to talk about the Lockout and more.
He said that 40 guys have been regularly participating with his unofficial team workouts. He said that some of them aren’t even under contract moving forward with the Saints. Brees talked about the goal of the workouts. “To treat it as much as we can like a normal offseason, although it is far from that,” Brees sadi. “To make sure we’re prepared for when this Lockout does end. We want to be the team that’s most prepared.” Dan asked Brees what’s next. Brees explained they’re waiting for the legal process to play out some more, starting with a big ruling on June 3.
Dan asked why Reggie Bush isn’t working out with them. He said he wasn’t sure, but maybe it’s because Bush has a plan on the West Coast.
Dan asked how Bush should feel with the Saints picking a running back. Brees said let’s go back five years, to when they had Deuce McAllister and drafted Bush. Both situations are similar, because the backs have different skill sets. “You have to have at least three running backs on a team if you want to run the ball effectively,” Brees said.
“I know he’s said a few things on Twitter he probably wish he hadn’t,” Brees said. “But I’ve talked to him and I also know he wants to be in New Orleans.”
Brees is working for a New Orleans charity at netraffle.org that lets you be a pro player for a day. It’s very, very cool. Let’s you be a player for a day in a real way.
