Barkley on Shaq’s TV future, Pippen’s comments, Tiger Woods
TNT NBA analyst Charles Barkley joined the show to break down the NBA Finals and more.
Dan asked Charles what he thinks of Shaquille O’Neal’s TV future. “Somebody’s gonna be fired,” Barkley said. “He’s gonna get a TV job if he wants it. He’s going to have his choice of where he wants to go.”
Barkley said O’Neal is in a unique position, because he has entertainment projects as well. Barkley said that ESPN is flawed because their analysts have to work every day, compared to TNT, where he’s on a lot less frequently.
Barkley explained why he got in a fight with Shaq during his career. He said they actually went to dinner that night. “Our moms are best friends,” Barkley said.
Barkley talked about Scottie Pippen’s comments that LeBron will end up being a greater player than Michael Jordan. Barkley thinks that Pippen was just trying to get free tickets. And he thinks Jordan may have erased Pippen from his phone after that.
Barkley thinks that LeBron isn’t selfish enough. “He’s the best player in the NBA, but Dwyane’s a better close for that team because he has a more aggressive personality,” Barkley said.
Barkley also weighed in on Tiger Woods. He said he hasn’t been in touch with him since the accident.
Dan said that he thinks Woods’ advisors told him stay away from his old friends. “We had no idea any of that crap was going on,” Barkley said. Barkley pointed out that Woods’ advisors had to know more than he did about what was going on.
