Terry Francona on Boston’s up-and-down season, Jeter

Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona joined the show to talk about his season and much more.

Francona looked back at the first week of the season and the Sox’ struggles. He said he had to show the team he wasn’t panicking, even though he was actually alarmed.

Francona also talked about his admiration for Derek Jeter. “I love what the guy stands for,” Francona said. “He’s been that way since the Fall league since he was 19 years old. He approaches the game the same way.”

Dan asked the best pitcher he’s seen so far. He said there were a lot of great ones, but Justin Verlander jumped out to him.e the same way.

Francona talked about his tobacco use. He said he doesn’t touch it during the offseason and only picks it up during the season.
