Al Michaels on catch phrases, NFL in L.A.
NBC broadcaster Al Michaels joined the show to talk about the art of broadcasting and the NFL moving to Los Angeles.
Michaels commented on Buster Corrigan and dropping in catch phrases. “If you have a catch phrase, it sounds like you have to get it into the game or use it over and over again,” Michaels said.
But Michaels doesn’t mind announcers that try things. “If you listen to someone like Gus Johnson, I enjoy it,” Michaels said. “I’ve always believed in passion.”
Michaels also talked about why L.A. hasn’t gotten an NFL team yesterday. “Los Angeles doesn’t have a team because Los Angeles doesn’t have a place to play,” Michaels said.
Michaels isn’t sure they can get it done. But he said that there are 17 million people in the area and they’ll sell a stadium out easily.
