Smoltz: Pujols still a good bet for long-term contract

MLB Network analyst John Smoltz joined the show to talk about the big stories around baseball and much more.

Smoltz talked about Albert Pujols and the impact of his wrist injury on contract talks. “I’ll take Albert Pujols with a bad elbow or a bad shoulder,” Smoltz said. “He’s that much better than everyone else in the game.”

Smoltz said that there are some guys that you have to worry about with long-term contracts because they might stop working as hard. Smoltz said Pujols is absolutely not like that. “This guy has never let an at-bat go,” Smoltz said.

Smoltz had interesting comments on Bryce Harper blowing a kiss to a pitcher after hitting a homer off him in the minors. “That kind of stuff needs to be stopped early,” Smoltz said. “I’m quite confident that stuff has no place.”

Smoltz also talked a little about his old buddy Tiger Woods. He said they haven’t been hanging out, but he’s pretty sure that they’re still good.
