Joe Buck talks about throat illness, Vin Scully
FOX broadcaster Joe Buck joined the show to preview the All-Star Game and more.
Buck talked about getting sick earlier this season and not knowing if his voice would come back. Buck said that he had a virus that affected the nerves in his left vocal chord. When it first struck, Buck said he couldn’t utter a word. He said he’s still recovering. He said it’s improving, but not all the way back. He also said this illness has made him appreciate how great his job is.
Buck talked about all the players pulling out of the All-Star Game. Buck said he really wishes Derek Jeter could come to Phoenix for the game on Tuesday night.
Buck also commented on the internet push to have him step aside so Vin Scully could call the World Series. “I’d be all for it, if he wanted to join us or take a three-inning break,” Buck said. “I am my dad’s son and I know what these guys mean to the game.”
Buck said he wouldn’t want it to be a tribute. He’d want him to do the game. “He hasn’t lost anything,” Buck said of Scully.
