Mike Florio makes sense of NFL madness
Profootballtalk.com’s Mike Florio joined the show to talk about the end of the NFL Lockout.
— Florio thinks both sides got what they wanted in a sense. Florio explained that the players will get 48 cents of every dollar, even if the league grows financially. Florio thinks the owners did well too. “For the owners, any deal was better than the last deal,” Florio said.
— Florio said the rookie salary cap should make it simpler for rookies to sign. “There shouldn’t be lengthy holdouts any more,” Florio said.
— Florio said that the NFL can cut the preseason in the future and take away the players’ money for those games. The owners might do that so they can expand the season to 18 games.
— Florio weighed in on the free-agent market. He said it’s a “buyer’s market.” He said a few big names will go early, but then big-time players will be left without the deal they want. “The smart teams are going to sit and wait,” Florio said.
— Florio said “buyer beware” on Kevin Kolb, because quarterbacks always do better on the Eagles.
— Florio said that the Bengals will stay $11 1/2 million over the cap so they don’t have to cut Carson Palmer.
