Hunter on NFL, AL West race, origins of his name

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Torii Hunter joined the show to talk about his season, the trade deadline and more.

Hunter is happy the NFL Lockout is over. He said that he was slated to play college football at Arkansas. But then he got drafted by the Minnesota Twins. He weighed in on physical play in baseball. He was OK with the runner who took out Buster Posey. He said runners have to do anything to score, and they’re vulnerable to injury as well.

Dan asked Hunter the one pitcher on his staff he wouldn’t want to face. Hunter said Jered Weaver because he’s so unorthodox. He said the one pitcher he doesn’t like facing out there is Texas’ Alexi Ogando.

Hunter thinks the Angels are in pretty good shape, considering the Rangers are so red hot, and they’re still only four games out.

Hunter also explained the name and why two I’s. He said his mother wanted to be different. He actually grew up with his middle name, Kedar.
