Bones Mackay Shares His Experience of Being a Caddy

Caddy Jim “Bones” Mackay joined the show to share his experience of being a caddy for Phil Mickelson.

Dan asked Mackay how many wins he had. Mackay said he didn’t have any. Mickelson had a lot of wins. Dan said that was the right answer.

Mackay said that sometimes when he disagrees with Mickelson, the cameras pick it up and it looks worse than it is. He said that Mickelson is aggressive, and even though it costs him, Mickelson has probably won more tournaments because of his style.

Mackay did admit that caddies can be overrated a bit. But he said that when it comes down to the 15th hole on the final day at Augusta, and your player asks you what you think, you have to have an answer.

Mackay also addressed Tiger Woods and Stevie Williams parting ways. Mackay said that all caddies should expect to be fired. In fact, he expects to be fired some day even though he’s been with Mickelson for so long.
