Tony Dungy shares perspective on Colts not having Peyton Manning for Week 1
NBC NFL analyst Tony Dungy joined the show to talk about the upcoming NFL season.
Dungy said that “doubtful” means the chances aren’t good Peyton Manning will play Week 1. “The fact that Kerry Collins has been practicing and it seems like they’re leaning that way, kind of tells met things aren’t going very well,” Dungy said.
Dungy said the Colts can’t run the same offense without Peyton. “No one can run it with all the nuances he’s put in it the last 12 years,” Dungy said.
Dungy talked about Colts coach Jim Caldwell’s decision to hire Jim Tressel as a special assistant. “I think Jim Caldwell thinks this is a good man and I need to give him another opportunity,” Dungy said.
Dungy made his Super Bowl picks. He’s going with the Packers in the NFC, and the Chargers in the AFC.
Dan asked Dungy if the Colts will make the playoffs. “It all depends on Peyton Manning,” Dungy said. “If he misses one or two games, I think they’ll still win the division.”
