Andy Staples says Notre Dame should stay independent
Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples joined the show to talk about conference alignment.
Dan asked Staples if Notre Dame should join a conference or stay independent. “They should stay independent the way they want to,” Staples said. “They really want to stay independent in football. They’re sitting on a $600 million endowment. It’s not like they need the money.”
Staples agreed with Dan that the Longhorn Network started some of these problems, because it destabilized the Big 12.
Staples said that Oklahoma still has some power, even though the Pac-12 says its set. Staples said OU could still call SEC and probably go there.
Staples said the Big Ten teams don’t want to add another team to dilute the amount of money they split.
Staples said the ACC should be set for right now. He doesn’t think that the ACC should add a team like Connecticut.
