Peter Gammons: Red Sox fans fatalistic, Francona could be in trouble, Kemp is MVP
MLB Network’s Peter Gammons joined the show to talk about the Boston Red Sox’s collapse and more.
Gammons has been in Boston this week and he said the fans seem to feel the season is basically over.
Gammons said believe it or not, manager Terry Francona could be in some hot water. “There is an increasing disconnect between Theo Epstein and Terry Francona,” Gammons said.
Gammons said the last few teams to have this kind of collapse fired their manager at some point in the following year.
Gammons said that the Red Sox have to worry about more than the Rays. Gammons said that the Angels are a bona fide threat and can catch Boston as well.
Gammons also said the Atlanta Braves are in trouble. Gammons said that the Braves have had to rely on the bullpen too much, and those guys have to be burned out a bit.
Gammons said he thinks the Dodgers’ Matt Kemp should be the NL MVP. He thinks Kemp deserves credit for making the Dodgers at least respectable. And Gammons thinks that Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander will win the AL MVP.
