Al Leiter says pitcher should never win MVP

MLB Network analyst Al Leiter joined the show to talk about the surprising pennant races and more.

Leiter firmly believes that pitchers don’t deserve the MVP. He would never vote for Justin Verlander for AL MVP. Leiter said that pitchers aren’t players. He said pitchers often don’t even watch the game if they’re not going.

Leiter had an interesting argument on individual awards. Leiter said that the pressure a contending team is under makes a difference. That’s one of the reasons Leiter would give Ryan Braun the NL MVP.

Leiter says the Rays’ Matt Moore is the real deal. He and Dan are very impressed with the young pitcher. Leiter thinks he proved he could pitch on the big stage by winning in New York.

Leiter had interesting comments on the movie Moneyball. He saw it and believes that Jonah Hill made the movie.
